FOOD fans were in for a treat when stalls appeared selling goodies galore at a Bolton shopping centre.

Local businesses were given the chance to showcase food and drink at the Market Place Mini Foodie Fest on Thursday and Friday before an afternoon of traditional Indian fun on Saturday.

They included The Salad Bowl, Winter Hey Lane, Horwich; The Stables Cafe, Manchester Road, Kearsley, and Mrs Muamba's Caribbean Sauces, the company set up by Shauna Muamba, wife of former Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice.

Staff from Nutri Bar, Chorley Street, were on hand to give out free samples of their healthy range including snacks and smoothies.

Young tester Benjamin Dalby, aged 11, from Bolton, enjoyed trying out one of the healthy eating food bar's drinks.

The Westmorland School pupil said: "It's sweet and fruity. It tastes like raspberry, strawberry and banana. It's my favourite combination."
