GREEN-FINGERED residents are celebrating after Farnworth was given a floral boost.
New troughs full of brightly-coloured flowers have been put in place around King Street.
This came after months of protesting from the Cawdor and Campbell Action Group and Gardening On Your Doorstep, which is also based on Farnworth.
Volunteers potted the plants at Maxton House in Bridgewater Street before pushing them to their chosen destinations in wheelbarrows.
Richard Wood, from Gardening On Your Doorstep, said: “The two groups worked with local councillors and PCSOs to persuade the council to put the new troughs in place.
“Two schools brought 20 children to help plant the new flowerbeds with volunteers from both groups.”
