THE wife of former Bolton Wanderers star Kevin Davies has expressed her horror at photos apparently showing a woman grabbing a football shirt out of the hands of a young boy.

Emma Davies, who was at the Preston North End League One play-off final against Swindon watching her husband 'Super' Kev play in his last game at Wembley, says she has "lost all belief in humanity" after seeing the footage which emerged on social media.

Kevin's team mate Jermaine Beckford, who is currently on loan at Preston North End from Bolton Wanderers until the end of the month, took off his shirt when he was subbed in Sunday's game — which saw PNE beat Swindon 4-0 — and threw it towards the crowd.

The youngster, named online as eight-year-old Ted Dockray, appears delighted when he catches the shirt until a woman with a pink top is caught on camera snatching it from his grasp.

Mrs Davies said: "I have lost all belief in humanity after seeing that footage. That poor little boy's face when she takes it from him. I find it horrifying to watch."

Shortly after the match was over — which saw Mr and Mrs Davies' nine-year-old daughter Lana appear as a mascot — the shirt was reported to have appeared on Gumtree where it was being sold for £1,500. The post has since been taken down.

Mrs Davies said: "What's also sad is that people think this woman is a PNE supporter but she isn't — she was there watching a kids' cup game which was on before the match.

"The club have been really supportive and said they'll get the boy another shirt, but as Kevin says, it's not the same is it?"

Since the news, the hashtag #Justice4BeckfordShirtKid has begun trending on Twitter.
