A BOLTON man has become the first in Greater Manchester to be charged under new "revenge porn" legislation.

Kevin Bond, aged 30, of Elsdon Gardens, Tonge Moor, is the first person to be charged by Greater Manchester Police with disclosing private sexual photos with intent to cause distress.

Bond has also been charged with beating and twice raping the alleged victim, and with damaging a door by kicking it, causing £100 of damage.

The full details of Bond's "revenge porn" charge are an accusation that he "disclosed a private sexual photograph or film without the consent of the person who appeared in the photograph or film, with the intention of causing that individual distress".

The charges relate to an incident on Monday in which a woman in her 20s was allegedly attacked and raped.

Bond appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

He will appear at Bolton Crown Court on May 15.

Legislation designed to tackle "revenge porn" was drawn up in October last year and became law in February.

The amendment to the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 stipulates that those guilty of the new offence can face up to two years in prison.
