POLICE are no longer treating the death of a woman in Blackburn as suspicious.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at around 5.40pm yesterday to an address on St Mary’s Close, Blackburn, following reports that a woman had been found hanged.

A 37-year-old woman, named as Lynnsey Catley, was pronounced dead at the address by paramedics.

Detectives launched an investigation into the death and a post mortem examination carried out today revealed she died as a result of hanging.

A file will now be passed to HM Coroner.

A 40-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident but has now been released without charge.

Police said the matter had been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission as a matter of routine as the deceased had contacted police earlier on the afternoon of Thursday. This earlier contact is entirely unrelated to subsequent events.
