A GROUP of mums have been inspired to form their own award-winning cheerleading team after watching their daughters in action.
Mums Aloud formed two months ago and put a routine together within three cheerleading sessions at Sanderson Dance and Fitness at Tony's Ballroom Town Hall Street, Blackburn.
They took part in the 5th cheerleading interschools event at Blackpool Tower and beat eight other teams and were crowned Mums Event category winners.
The group is made up of Joanne Pickup, 32, from Wilpshire, Cheryl Jones, 28, Darwen, Carol Halligan, 30, Darwen, Debbie Hunter, 36, Blackburn, Nina Ellement, 37, Feniscowles, Cathy Terzic, 35, and Tammy Adams, 27, both Darwen, and Eva Perkins, 30, Bury.
The team completed a three-minute routine to three Girls Aloud tracks I Think We're Alone Now, Love Machine and Jump (For My Love) to win the fun team cup.
Mums Aloud were one of a few newcomers to the competition.
Others included Honeyz, Cheer Chicks and Vixen's from Sanderson Dance and Fitness Centre, Nelson.
Gemma Bynbit, one of the event organisers, from Sanderson Dance and Fitness, Churchill Way, Nelson, said: "The team were doing cartwheels, handstands and the splits on the day.
"They were judged on the fun factor of their routine and not whether they all moved in time This was the first time the competition has been part of the event and we had many newcomers who were excellent, but did not win their categories."
