FORMER pupils at an East Lancashire school took a trip down memory lane when they met for a reunion on Saturday.

Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn, welcomed more than 100 former pupils who attended the school in the 1950s to meet up with classmates.

One even travelled thousands of miles from Hong Kong to meet up with old friends who had not seen one another for more than 50 years.

The West Park Road school hosted the event and asked students to take their photos and memorabilia to school again for the day to share their fond memories.

The guests were also invited back into the classroom for a reminder of how things used to be.

Activities on the day included a sample chemistry lesson and demonstration by teachers before the former students were invited to catch up with events over a hot lunch.

With a tradition as the Grammar School in Blackburn dating back nearly 500 years, Queen Elizabeth's is now a thriving, co-educational school offering the best in modern education to boys and girls aged from three to 18.

The Old Blackburnians Association exists to help former pupils keep in touch with the school and each other and and to continue to help the school achieve its aims.

Virtually all pupils leaving the school become Life Members of the Association and can benefit from attending social functions, such as the annual dinner at school, the annual Golf Day or one of the regional events that bring together Old Blackburnians.

There is also a thriving Old Blackburnians Football Club at Lammack.
