THE Labour MP for the Todmorden area for the last 10 years, Chris McCafferty, has announced her intention to retire before the next General Election.
She said she was confident her successor will be able to build on the work she had done for the Calder Valley.
Mrs McCafferty said: "I appreciate we could be more than three years away from the next General Election but I want to be open with my constituents and the Labour Party.
"It has been a great honour to serve and I am proud to have been a part of the achievements of the Labour Government."
