Celebrity Big Brother star Jade Goody said today she did not realise how "nasty and ugly" her behaviour was until she saw footage of herself screaming at Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
But she insisted she would have argued with everyone in the house in the same manner, no matter what the colour of their skin.
Jade, who emerged on Friday night to find herself at the centre of a race row over her treatment of Shilpa, said she was worried her two young children would be "rejected" as a consequence of her actions.
But she denied reports she was suicidal, saying she would never harm herself because of her kids.
Appearing on GMTV today, the 25-year-old said that while she was "effing and blinding", Shilpa had been only dignified.
She added: "My actions and my words were wrong. I won't justify them. I didn't realise how nasty and ugly that was until I watched it."
She also apologised to Shilpa's parents, saying: "If I was Shilpa's parents I would be feeling rage."
•The Channel 4 board was meeting today to discuss the future of Celebrity Big Brother after the row, but was said to be reluctant to make a "knee-jerk" reaction.
