AN EXHIBITION of artwork by Blackburn College students helped to raise money for charity.

The postcard-sized pieces in the Altered Urban Exhibition in Blackburn is Open, King William Street, were on sale for just £2 with 50 per cent of the proceeds donated to cancer charities.

The work was created by Level One students on the UAL (University of the Arts London) Award and Diploma in art, design and media.

Course leader Sally Taylor said: “The learners benefitted tremendously from members of the public visiting to see their artwork.

“This is the first exhibition the majority of them have been involved in.”

Blackburn is Open is a pop-up arts centre in theBlackburn town centre, and is part of the ‘Revitalising Blackburn Town Centre’ strategy.

It aims to improve the night time economy, utilise under-used spaces and empty shops to host arts activities and improve the perception of the town centre by providing a high quality and family-friendly event programme.
