THE ex-boss of the North West Aerospace Alliance has been honoured at a presentation.

Dennis Mendoros, the founder chairman of the NWAA, which represents the aerospace industry from its base in Nelson, spent 13 years in his role with the group and its predecessor the Consortium of Lancashire Aerospace (CLA).

To mark his voluntary contribution to the organisation and the aerospace sector, directors of the group presented him with a memento created by Rolls-Royce plc, based on a fan blade with his image engraved on the titanium surface.

County Councillor Terry Burns, chairman of Lancashire County Council, also made a presentation of a historic county map.

Mr Mendoros said: "I am honoured to have been chairman for 13 years and I am confident that the directors of the NWAA have the commitment and experience to continue driving the Alliance forward and to achieve new goals that will help to preserve the future of the aerospace industry, which is so crucial to the North West."

Keith Harrison, deputy chairman of the NWAA said: "The growth of the CLA and the NWAA has been phenomenal and Dennis's vision, leadership, drive and determination over all those years amount to a remarkable contribution to the aerospace community in this region."
