BOSSES of Clitheroe Auction Mart have said the Wednesday night sales will be as lively as ever despite the ban on poultry sales in the wake of the avian flu outbreak.
The Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra) ban on all bird gatherings including shows, markets and fairs, and pigeon races has meant the auction has had to cancel the feather side of their "fur and feather" sales for the next three to four weeks.
Despite the short term ban, Robert Parker from the auction said the popular Wednesday night sales would continue to be packed.
He said: "We still have rabbits, guinea pigs and snakes for sale and all the miscellaneous items are still being sold.
"The furniture side is still there which is very popular and Defra have said the ban on poultry sales should be over in three to four weeks.
"That side would be very quiet at this time of year anyway."
