RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on the future of CCTV in five Pendle towns.

Pendle Council wants to gauge the opinion of people in Barnoldswick, Earby, Brierfield, Colne and Nelson as part of a review of the effectiveness of CCTV.

An online questionnaire has been set up and the council is now holding a public meeting to see whether people think the cameras are worthwhile.

Pendle Council's CCTV scrutiny panel leader Coun David Robertson said: "The police are playing an important role in providing information about how helpful the cameras are to their work, but we also need to know how the public perceive the success or otherwise of CCTV.

"There was a considerable investment in the CCTV systems, and there is a continued financial com-mitment for the main-tenance and monitoring costs, so it's important we get everyone's views."

The meeting is being held at Barnoldswick Civic Hall, on February 26 at 7.30pm.
