HEALTH bosses have downgraded the 'major incident' alert at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

But non-emergency operations are still being cancelled as doctors and nurses battle to free up beds and cope with the rise in emergency admissions.

The 'major incident' - an emergency plan put in place when there are too many patients for clinicians to treat and take care off appropriately - was downgraded at 8pm.
