TRAFFIC is tailing back on the M61 southbound after a crash involving a van and
The accident, between junctions one and two of the motorway, close to the junction with the M60, has caused delays of up to ten minutes, according to the Highways Agency.
Police were called about the crash at 4.30pm, with two lanes of the carriageway currently closed.
Queues are currently going back to junction three at the Kearsley Spur.
The vehicles involved were a white Citroen Berlingo van and a black Audi A4.
Both vehicles have been recovered from the motorway as they were left undriveable.
It is unclear whether the drivers have been hurt.
Drivers are warned not to expect normal driving conditions to resume until 7pm.
