THERE is no risk of little Isaac Mason having a rubbish Christmas after his favourite bin crew dropped off a special present.

The three-year-old has formed a friendship with the crew over the past year, waving at them every time they come to collect the grey bin from his house in Craighall Road, Sharples.

The bond was sealed when Isaac and his pals exchanged Christmas cards — and now the generous crew have gone one better delighting the youngster by presenting him with his very own toy bin truck to play with.

To add to his joy, Isaac, who is “obsessed” with bin trucks according to his family, was even invited to sit in the front seat of the bin wagon with his grandmother Anne Crompton.

She said: “He is obsessed with the bin men. He is sat by the window every Wednesday when they come and loves waving to them.

“Now whenever they arrive, the bin men are already waving at Isaac as they come up the street. He loves it and gets really excited as they arrive.

“They really do make a fuss of him and you can see his little face light up, it is lovely to see.”

The crew consists of loaders Paul Woodward and Jason Norris and driver Geoff Kay.

Mr Kay, who has been in the job for 10 years, said Isaac was his “favourite ever customer.”

He added: “He is definitely number one in all my time in the job. We love seeing him so much that we actually refer to the day we collect his bin as ‘Isaac’s day’.

“At first he was a bit shy and would only peep around the curtain a bit, but now he waves every time he sees us and things like this really make the job worthwhile.”

Isaac is due to start nursery in the new year at Egerton and Walmsley pre-school so will no longer be around when his favourite crew come to collect the bins.

Mr Kay said: “We will certainly miss seeing Isaac on the rounds but we wish him every luck at nursery and in the future — who knows one day he could end up being a bin man too.”
