YOUNGSTERS at St Christopher’s Church of England High School, in Accrington, were treated to a First World War performance.
Touring theatre company In Yer Face performed their most recent work, All Is Calm, to commemorate the Christmas truce of 1914.
A school spokesman said: “The play cast its eye on the men and women of a small northern town, caught up in the horrors of the First World War. Although hard-hitting and occasionally difficult to watch, this play had an important message for our pupils about valuing the sacrifices made by previous generations and appreciating the horrors that people had to endure.”
During the first performance, there was a poignant moment as the clock struck 11am, the actors paused, the audience stood and the sound of The Last Post echoed around the school, played by Mr Hickey and musicians in the Cocker Courtyard.”
