VOTERS will go to the polls today to decide who will be the newest Harper Green councillor.
Six candidates will fight it out for a seat in the council chamber at the by-election, which was triggered by the death of Cllr Asha Ali Ismail.
They are Jeff Armstrong for UKIP, Rebekah Fairhurst for the Liberal Democrats, Susan Haworth for Labour, Joseph Holt as an Independent, James Tomkinson for the Green Party and Robert Tyler for the Conservatives.
Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm at St Catherine’s Church in Highfield Road, Farnworth Cricket Club Pavilion in Lavender Road, the nursery unit in Lever Edge Primary Academy and St Simon and St Jude CE Primary in Newport Road.
Cllr Asha Ali Ismail died in July, aged 34.
