A RECOVERING heroin addict pleaded guilty to attempting to use a stolen credit card and stealing tools worth £1,000.
Mark Prodywus, aged 29, of Crossdale Road, Breightmet, appeared before Bolton Magistrates on Friday.
The court heard that on December 20 he attempted to buy a video games console from Choices video store, in Bury Road, Bolton.
Suspicions were raised when his signature did not match that on the credit card he presented.
It was found that the card had been stolen in a burglary at a house earlier that month.
Prodywus also pleaded guilty to the theft of tools worth £1,000 from a building site two days earlier.
Joanne Tang, for the defence, said: "He has been a heroin addict for some time.
"During this time his methadone prescription had been suspended and he committed offences to buy heroin, but that is under control now."
Prodywus was given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £150 compensation.
