A 10-YEAR-OLD girl has been hit by a car in Smithills.
Paramedics and police were called to Church Road at about 5.05pm, near to the junction with Brentford Avenue, outside the Post Office.
The driver of the car — a Vauxhall Corsa — stopped at the scene.
Police said the girl was conscious and had suffered “a bump to the head”.
Witnesses said an air ambulance was also called with a helicopter landing at nearby Moss Bank Park.
One nearby resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I have been saying for a long time now that this road is an accident waiting to happen.
“There should be yellow lines outside the Post Office and the road should have a 20mph limit.
“It looks like the girl has had a lucky escape. It could have been a lot worse.”
