A MAN who was stabbed in the stomach in an attempted carjacking in Tonge Moor had his jacket stolen, police have said.

The 26-year-old’s attackers fled from Bleak Street, near the junction of Tonge Moor Road, after the incident on Tuesday, which left the victim needing hospital treatment for superficial wounds.

Police have confirmed that the offenders stole a black jacket in the raid, which took place at about 5pm.

Officers are appealing for information after a gang of up to five men hauled the man out of his Audi A4 after it had veered into a parked car.

A struggle followed in which the victim was stabbed before brave residents chased off the attackers.

One man is described as white, between 20 and 25, of medium build, clean shaven, about 5ft 9in tall, with blonde, neatly-cut hair and a long face.

The second man is black, between 18 and 25, of medium build, about 5ft 8in tall. He was wearing a silver or grey bandana on his head.

No arrests have been made so far.

The victim suffered no serious injuries.
