An investigation into the death of a Chorley man who died in an accident at work is still underway.

Richard Calsen, 25, suffered crush injuries at Abbey Village welding firm John Fowler and Son, near Chorley, earlier this year.

Mr Calsen — known as Chard — left behind his pregnant girlfriend Jade Halpin, and died despite the best efforts of paramedics called to the Garden Street mill on Saturday, May 17. A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said it was still looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He said: “It could be months until our investigation is complete.”

An inquest into Mr Calsen’s death was opened and adjourned at Preston Coroner’s Court in May.

A review will be held on Thursday, September 18, with a full inquest to be heard at some point after that date.
