A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy has escaped with minor injuries after he was knocked down by a car in Breightmet.

 

The boy — believed to be a pupil at Leverhulme Community Primary School — was hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra in Bury Road at about 3.30pm today.

He was carried to safety by firefighters and treated by ambulance crews at the scene.

Police say the boy was sent home to recover with “very minor” injuries.

The road was reopened at 4.40pm.
