MASTERCHEF finalist Jackie Kearney brought her unique brand of high quality street food to Bolton Food and Drink Festival for the first time.

Jackie, who made the last four in the hit show 2011, brought her Hungry Gecko gourmet food van to Victoria Square, and enlisted the help of another talented chef, none other than Bolton’s own Debbie Halls-Evans, who won Nigella Lawson fronted TV show The Taste.

Jackie said she put out a plea on Twitter for someone to help her serve the hungry masses and keep up with demand — but that she did not expect such an illustrious fellow cook to come forward.

She added: “We had met a couple of times, but I never expected her to come along, and she even said she would help with the washing up.”

Jackie also led a cookery demonstration in the marquee next to Market Place, making Tibetan momos with a chilli sambal, as well as a vegetable broth.

She added: “It is brilliant coming to Bolton, I love it here. I used to work here at the university and I really like the Bolton people.”
