A BBC pundit has been criticised on social media after claiming that Burnley was in the Ribble Valley.

Former Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson, who was born and bred in Preston, said he ‘loved the thought’ of Chelsea playing in the borough.

His comments were made on the BBC Sport website ahead of Burnley’s first match back in the Premier League since the 2009/10 season.
