POLICE are on the hunt for a jet washer thief.

The stocky man, pictured, drove up to a building site in Europa Park in Kearsley at about 1pm on Monday, July 7.

When the traffic barrier did not open, he walked to the back of the premises and stole the jet washer before driving off.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and have released CCTV footage of the man.

He is described as white, of stocky build with brown short hair and was a wearing long grey shorts.

PC Trish Shepard said: "We have released a CCTV still of a man we want to speak to in connection with the theft, and although you can't see his face I think if you know him you will recognise him from these images.

"I would ask you to take a close look and if you recognise the man or have any information about the theft to call the police."

Anyone with any information can call police on 0161 8565608 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Why can't we comment on the convicted benefits criminal, Michaela Bates, who won't go to prison and won't pay her ill gotten gains back for 30 years if ever? Against that, a jet washer is small change and even if apprehended, he'll just get a caution. Even stealing £30k from taxpayers doesn't put you inside, so the message is - petty crime is a mug's game, "fill your boots" at the taxpayers expense instead.

Because it's a court case. This has been the situation here for perhaps years. Are you new here?

And he looks from the cctv footage, that he could do with using the Jet Washer on himself.
If you are going to get yourself caught on Camera Lad, smarten up.

My thoughts exactly,it seems we are only allowed to comment on inane news items.

Comments aren't allowed on court cases in progress. The benefits case has been concluded and sentenced so there is no good reason not to allow comments. This hasn't been the situation for years. Are you new on here on just misinformed?

No he / she isn't but if you watch the news people are getting away with tax / benefit fraud all the time and the slap on the wrist sentences they get are a joke it seems to be the fashion to forget you where once incapable of managing then suddenly forgetting to advise DWP you are now ok and no it is not ok to steal goods someone else has paid for.
