THE bereaved father of Laura Farrell says he is still devastated by her death.

Ian Robbins says he has lost contact with her husband, Norman, since Sherie Torkington was jailed for six years for causing the death of his 41-year-old daughter in 2011.

Mr Farrell is now suing Torkington for upwards of £300,000 for damages after blaming her for the loss of his wife.

Mr Robbins, who lives in Worsley, said: “If Norman can get the compensation good luck to him, but somehow I don’t think it will happen.

“She was my daughter and I don’t get anything. It’s just one of those things, I suppose. You live by the rules and see what happens.

“I still think of Laura — she used to phone me from work at 12.45pm every working day. She never failed. You tend to miss it.

“I lost my wife 12 years ago and to lose a child before you go yourself is a hard pill to swallow.”

The accident was discovered by a passing police patrol car at about 3.25am in the morning of June 29, 2011.

Mrs Farrell worked for HSBC in Manchester.

She was due to celebrate her 42nd birthday in the month she died and had only recently returned from a holiday in Greece.
