CHILDREN were given the chance to go wild as part of the first ever Junior Ranger Day hosted by South Ribble Borough Council.

The 14 children, aged four to 11, took part in the event at Withy Grove Park which saw them turn their hands to everything from park maintenance to checking out insects and wildlife.

The afternoon was part of a series of activities being run by the council throughout the summer holidays.

Councillor Peter Mullineaux, Deputy Leader of South Ribble Borough Council and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Street Scene said: “I am delighted that it was such a success and I want to thank the employees at South Ribble Borough Council for organising the afternoon.

“We now have a new generation of prospective rangers who did a fantastic job maintaining Withy Grove Park.

“Hopefully we can host another Junior Ranger Day.”
