A WOMAN attacked her boyfriend after she claimed he had been texting girls asking for sex and when he said he didn't love her, a court heard.

Rebecca Tootle, 20, had grabbed Matthew Moran's arm, began to punch and kick him and tried to knee him in the groin.

She then ‘unleashed’ a string of expletives before going into her grandmother's house in Accrington.

Burnley Crown Court was told how the victim, who had then been in a relationship with the defendant for just three weeks, was left concerned and shaken by what happened and went to the the police, but did not co-operate with the prosecution.

Jobless Tootle, who has two offences on her record and struck while subject to a conditional discharge, wants to work for the RSPCA. She admitted assault by beating.

The defendant, of Spring View, Blackburn, was given a community order with a 31-day curfew, between 9pm and 6am and was ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge, by Judge Jonathan Gibson.

Mercedeh Jabbari, prosecuting, said: "The defendant was arrested, taken to the police station and interviewed. She made admissions to having hit and punched Mr Moran and stated she had a reason for doing so because he had been texting some girls, she says, asking them for sex."

Mark Lamberty, for Tootle, said: "I accept it's an unpleasant offence and it went on for some time."

The barrister continued: "She is certainly in need of some support. She is depressed about appearing before the court. She is interested in training to work with animals, perhaps for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals."
