A BLACKBURN author is returning home to hold a book signing.

Author, poet and voiceover actress Christina Gabbitas, will be holding a storytelling event based on her children’s book Felicity Fly next week.

The storytime and book signing at Liz ‘n’ Lil’s Cafe and WHSmith is a homecoming event for the local author.

Christina, who spent the first 22 years of her life in Blackburn, narrates the stories and gives all her characters different accents to help engage children reading on tapes which are sold with the books.

She said “I want to encourage parents to read with children from a young age and to learn with fun. I have been visiting schools and the children are very engaging.

“The Felicity Fly series gives parents and teachers topics to talk around, such as the importance of teamwork and friendship and helping one another. It also tackles fears, phobias and pollination.

“The books are a fun way for children to read and learn.”

Christina’s fourth book in the series, Felicity Fly and the Dragon Fruit, which addresses healthy food, is set to be launched February 2015 and will be touring a number of bookshops and outlets throughout England.

The events on Wednesday are at Liz ‘n’ Lil’s cafe in Northgate, Blackburn, from 9.30am until 11.30am, and a booksigning at WHSmith from 1pm until 4pm in The Mall, Blackburn.
