THE young woman found drowned in Rivington reservoir had a tragic life, it has emerged.

The woman, who has been named as Donna Greenall, had appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court, charged with being drunk and disorderly and breaching an anti-social behaviour order the day before her death.

Her body was found just after 6pm on Tuesday by dog walker Julian Holt, in the Lower Rivington Reservoir.

The 26-year-old had a chequered history of offending including a number of incidents involving being drunk and disorderly and making nuisance calls to the emergency services.

In March she was jailed for four months after being found guilty of assaulting policeman Jordan Caton.

She was also given an anti-social behaviour order around the same time, barring her from being drunk in public, making hoax calls to emergency services and behaving in a way “likely to cause distress or alarm”.

After Ms Greenall was released from prison she was jailed again when she was again convicted of making false reports to police.

Magistrates described her as having a “flagrant disregard” for court orders as well as a record of previous offences when passing the sentence.

Ms Greenall served just a few weeks of that sentence and after being released, was arrested again on July 26 for behaving in a drunk and disorderly manner in Kemble Close, Horwich, contravening the ASBO that she had been earlier served with.

She appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court on Monday, the day before her death, and was given a 12- week sentence, suspended for six months.

According to court lists, Ms Greenall had lived at a number of addresses in the last year, including Nottingham Drive and Brownlow Way.

The latest court list, recorded the day before her death, suggested she was of "no fixed abode" at the time, although it is thought she had recently lived in Horwich.

The case has been passed to Preston Coroners Court where the date for an inquest into the circumstances surrounding her death is to be set.

Only 26.......how sad.

And please, before any of the usual suspects appear and start posting crass comments about her criminal record, just stop and think for a second, will you?

A young woman has felt so obviously bereft of hope (for whatever reason) that she took her own life.

That is a real tragedy.

To many people are feeling this way at the moment, we have so much more to live for in this country than others, please try and get help. The samaritans would be a good start. People do care about you.

Any suicide is, of course tragic, however, the article addresses only a string of criminal offences including assault, which hardly raise sympathy amongst balanced readers. Why not report the real tragedy in the background? There are no comments from family or friends - perhaps that hints at the real tragedy here?

I can't understand why people who feel like they have committed the worst crimes, which turn out to be so little, any one of us could be arrested for them, get so desperate. Even a few of these offences shows that you are struggling somewhere and need help.

In my mind the worst crime is paedophilia, don't see many of them ending their lives. To reinforce my last statement on here people do care, heck I care if you'll listen to me. Whoever you are whatever you have done death isn't the only answer.

And where is the evidence she took her own life?
Possibly she was drunk again and went for a swim.

I am appalled at your reporting of this young womans tragic death. You concentrate on her personal problems, no regard given to the help she was desperately in need of. A better story would be to report on the lack of help from the police the courts and social services. The latter are never around when needed.
