A PLEA for help has been issued by a Clarets midfielder after his Championship promotion medal and shirt was taken from his car.

Scott Arfield, 25, also saw his medal and memorabilia from his successful League One promotion campaign with Huddersfield Town taken.

Arfield, who signed a deal earlier this month to keep him at Turf Moor, informed his 10,440 Twitter followers about the theft yesterday.

He said: “Had my Hudds & burnley promotion medals and shirts stole from my car last night any help will greatly appreciated . Thank you.”

His plight was recognised by at least two former team-mates last night, as collectors were also warned to be on their guard, in the event of any attempt to resell the medals.

Former Claret striker Charlie Austin, now of QPR, said he hoped that ‘Scotty’ would soon get his medals and shirts back.

And ex-Huddersfield Town team-mate Lee Croft added: “That's shocking mate. Those things can't be replaced! Hope u get them bk some how...”

Arfield, who made 49 appearances for Burnley last season in league and cup competitions, was unavailable for further comment last night.
