RAIL passengers faced delays this morning after a train broke down between Bolton and Salford Crescent.
Some trains from Bolton to Clitheroe, Barrow and Blackpool North were cancelled and other services were delayed after the breakdown at 7.50am.
A Southport-bound train from Huddersfield could not call at Bolton and Westhoughton due to the fault.
Services got back to normal at about 10.30am.
Passengers were already facing inconveience on the network in the first week of six weeks of engineering work.
As part of the work. trains between Chorley and Bolton have been reduced from five services an hour to one an hour, with replacement buses also in operation.
