EIGHT festival-goers who could have witnessed a Parklife attack which killed 26-year-old Robert Hart have already come forward after a fresh appeal was launched.

After images of 12 potential witnesses were released by police and aired on Crimewatch on Tuesday (July 22), more than half have already come forward.

Robert, aged 26, from Macclesfield, was punched once in the head at around 9.15pm on June 7 at the music festival in Heaton Park.

He was dancing with his girlfriend Gemma Parry to the right of the main stage when he was involved in a row after Gemma was hit by an inflatable doll and splattered with mud. Robert suffered a bleed on the brain and died on June 11, five days after the attack.

Officers investigating Robert’s death said they have had a “good response” from the public so far but are still appealing for more people to come forward.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Richard Eales, said: “The phone lines are starting to get busy following Tuesday’s appeal.

“We had a significant number of calls in the two hours directly after the Crimewatch appeal, an excellent response which we are expecting to improve upon as the days go on.

“As a result of publishing the pictures of the potential witnesses, we have already been able to identify more than half of those people we wish to speak to.

“We are also expecting to receive new video footage and pictures from the area where Robert was attacked as a result of last night’s appeal, and that could be invaluable to the investigation.”
