A MAN accused of shooting a police officer from Nelson is due to go on trial today charged with attempted murder.
PC Suzanne Hudson, a former student at Mansfield High School, Brierfield, suffered serious injuries when she was shot in the Hyde Park area of Leeds last December.
James Leslie, 37, is also charged with the attempted murder of PC Hudson’s colleague, PC Richard Whiteley, who was unharmed in the incident.
The officers were answering a routine call when it is alleged that Leslie, of Queenswood Drive, Leeds, shot at the pair.
After the incident, PC Hudson, 33, underwent more than two weeks of treatment for her non-life threatening injuries at Leeds General Infirmary. She was discharged just before Christmas.
The trial will be held in Leeds Crown Court.
