DETAILS of alleged "abuse" suffered by tragic schoolgirl Aleysha McLoughlin could be heard at her inquest.

Aleysha — who also used the surname Rothwell — was found hanged in her Breightmet foster family’s home in April.

Jennifer Leeming, the Bolton coroner, said she will need details of alleged abuse in 2002 before the inquest can go ahead — despite no action being taken at the time.

Speaking at a pre-inquest review today, Ms Leeming said: “I would like details of a police investigation of the allegations of abuse — referred to in the statement — in July to August 2002.

“I want to know what happened. I know no action was taken but I would like to know what the inquiry concluded.”

It was not made clear at the hearing what kind of "abuse" Aleysha is alleged to have suffered.

It is understood Aleysha had a history of mental health problems and friends say that, the day before she died, the St Catherine’s Academy pupil was seen by medical staff but told them she was “just having a bad day”.

A review into Aleysha’s death is being carried out by Bolton Council and the Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMW).

It is expected to take until November to complete.

Members of Aleysha’s family, the police, Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and GMW attended the hearing at Bolton Coroners Court today.
