Four people have been arrested after a large cannabis farm was found in Bury.

They were arrested when police raided the farm at York Street Mill in Bury yesterday.

It contained more than 2,500 plants with an estimated street value of £500,000.

Four men, aged 23, 27, 28 and 30 have been arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis.

Det Supt Karan Lee said: “This sends out a message to the organised crime groups in Bury that we will never give up on our fight against them.

"Drugs cause widespread destruction to users and have a wider impact on the community.

“Communities have told us that they want drugs and drug dealing tackled across the borough and I hope that this continuous action highlights how seriously we take these crimes.

“We want to send the message to organised crime groups in Bury that the community doesn’t want them here, and we will continue to uncover and destroy this activity at every opportunity."

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or 0161 8725050.

And now for the truth:

“We want to send the message to organised crime groups in Bury that the police actually think that a fairly harmless plant is more dangerous than an ever shrinking minority of parasitic, prohibitionist freeloaders who are guilty of turning whole governments into gargantuan organised crime syndicates that are interested only in protecting their own corrupt interests."
