STAFF in the maternity unit at Burnley General Hospital have been encouraged to have ante-natal conversations with women about breastfeeding.
Sue Henry, Infant Feeding Co-ordinator for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “More mothers are now choosing to breastfeed their babies and are enjoying the closeness this provides.
“Breastfeeding is perfect for giving love and comfort to babies as well as protecting both mum and baby against many adverse health conditions. We aim to celebrate breastfeeding and celebrate the fact that many mothers are making a personal choice to breastfeed.”
