TRAIN passengers were delayed when a man is thought to have jumped in front of a train.

No one was injured during the incident at Bolton Train Station which caused the busy 7.22am service from Wigan Wallgate to Manchester to stop suddenly.

Northern Rail have described the event as a “near miss.”

Witnesses took to twitter to describe the scenes and it would appear that the train stopped in time to avoid hitting the man.

Daniel Nisbet added: “Someone just crossed the tracks in front of a train at Bolton. Fortunately train managed to stop.”
