Chorley Little Theatre are staging a spectacular comedy musical about a killer plant to round off the current CADOS season.
Little Shop of Horrors is the society’s first full musical since Rent in 2009 and members have been working round the clock to make it as fun and exciting as possible, with a complex moving set, pyrotechnics, live orchestra and experienced cast.
Written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken the show tells the story of how weedy Seymour’s life is transformed by a strange new plant that appears in his New York shop overnight.
He names the plant after his sweetheart Audrey, but soon discovers that it needs human blood to keep growing and Seymour must decide how far he wants to go to win the love of the life.
Danny Watkins stars as Seymour, with Diane Glover as Audrey. Shop owner Mushnik is played by Paul Duckworth, marking 25 years since his CADOS debut.
The scene-stealing sadistic dentist Orin is brought to life by panto favourite Steven Catterall, and street urchins the Ronettes are played by Katie Eccles, Vicki Ciaputa and Rachel Brennan.
The show runs from Monday June 23 until Saturday, June 28 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets are £8 from Malcolm’s Musicland, 01257 264362 or www.chorleytheatre.com.
