THE owners of Accrington’s Arndale Centre will meet to discuss safety measures next month.

Jesta Capital will meet with police, the council, and the Samaritans on July 3, following the death of 17-year-old Lauren Johnson, who died after falling from the centre’s car park.

The meeting was revealed by the company in a letter to Hyndburn and Haslingden MP Graham Jones, who contacted Jesta after the Burnley-born student’s death on June 5.

The letter, written by UK director David Berman, said: “We are taking this matter extremely seriously and are mindful of the respect to be given to the parents of the young girl at this very tragic time in their lives. We share your view that measures need to be implemented an issue we do not face alone.”

Mr Jones said: “I will be writing to Lancashire County Council to ensure that people at risk are more aware of the services on offer.”
