THE new mayor of Bolton has been welcomed with a floral tribute, honouring his position as the town’s civic leader.
Cllr Martin Donaghy visited Bolton’s Queens Park to admire the floral offering which spells out his name along with the words ‘Mayor of Bolton.’ The arrangement also depicts the town crest, complete with motto ‘Supera Moras’ which translates as ‘overcome delays’.
Rangers at Bolton Council planted flowers months ago to form the crest and words, after it was announced that Cllr Donaghy would take over the position from outgoing mayor Cllr Colin Shaw.
Cllr Donaghy was appointed to the civic position during a mayor-making ceremony at the town hall at the end of May.
