A ROAD popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders near Rivington Pike will be closed for two months.

United Utilities will close access to Georges Lane, from Wilderswood car park towards the Pike, for two months from June 20.

A spokesman for United Utilities said: “We need to lay a water main up Georges Lane so that the cottage and kennels at the top can be connected into the public water supply for the first time.

“There will be some temporary disruption while we lay the pipe because this is such a narrow lane for the work to be done safely.

“We know how popular the area is for walkers and we’ll make sure there is plenty of signage so that people can find an alternative route if they want to walk up to the Pike.”
