A ROAD popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders near Rivington Pike will be closed for two months.

United Utilities will close access to Georges Lane, from Wilderswood car park towards the Pike, for two months from June 20.

A spokesman for United Utilities said: “We need to lay a water main up Georges Lane so that the cottage and kennels at the top can be connected into the public water supply for the first time.

“There will be some temporary disruption while we lay the pipe because this is such a narrow lane for the work to be done safely.

“We know how popular the area is for walkers and we’ll make sure there is plenty of signage so that people can find an alternative route if they want to walk up to the Pike.”

Laying the pipe will then enable Chorley / Bolton Council to build houses on the land in the future. (Sorry about the cynicism~)

United Utilities do own quite a lot of land around there, so it may well be them who are preparing to build in the future

You lot make me giggle, that house (1 property not 2) has a small tank on the hill that is filled by water off the moors and then filtered, in summer the house struggles for water as the tank runs dry.
Oh and during summer or whenever don't sit on the stone slabs on the field in front for a picnic as that is an old school composting Sh!t tank that is still in use.
There are also no plans for building as it is green belt not brown (unlike the popular picnic spot)
A house needs water and all the trolls come out to play, shame on you.
