Bury Market has scooped two more awards to add to its portfolio as a must-visit attraction.

Having been awarded the “coach friendly shopping destination of the year” title at the National Coach Tourism Awards 2014, it has also won a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

The coach-friendly award, presented at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom, came in recognition of the “outstanding service in promoting its famous market”.

Markets manager, Andrew Heyes, said: “It was great to see Bury Market being recognised for its contribution to the region’s tourist economy and it is always good to see our traders, who make the market what it is, getting the acknowledgement they deserve for their hard work and effort.”

The TripAdvisor accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments which consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on its website, maintaining an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five.

Mr Heyes added: “Winning the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence is a true source of pride for the entire team at Bury Market and we’d like to thank all of our guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor.

“There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by customers. The accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our famous market and our continued commitment to excellence.”

New developments at Bury Market are taking place to ensure that the market continues to attract and retain customers. These include the provision of new public toilets, the installation of a cash machine, and re-roofing.

Marc Charron, president of Trip Advisor for Business, said: “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establish- ments the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – customers.”
