Chorley’s MP is encouraging Second World War veterans to take advantage of the Heroes Return Programme.

As part of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings veterans have the opportunity to apply for funding to pay for their travel and accommodation.

Through Heroes Return, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Second World War veterans can access grants from between £165 to £8,140 towards travel and accommodation expenses to enable them, their spouse and carers to make trips back to places across the world where they served, or make a commemorative visit in the UK.

Lindsay Hoyle MP said: “I am pleased that the Big Lottery Fund is making money available for veterans, their families and carers to make trips to places where they served. It is important that veterans are given the opportunity to visit the battlefields and commemorate the events of World War Two.

“I know there are veterans living here in Chorley who served during the Second World War and if they wish to take part in a commemorative trip then I would advise them to make contact with the Heroes Return team in order to establish what funding they can access.”

Further details can be found at return or by calling our Heroes Return helpline 0845 0000 121.
