TWO men were receiving treatment last night following a ‘fight’ in Blackburn.

Police were called to Heys Close in the Livesey area of the town around 5pm yesterday following reports the men had suffered injuries.

Detectives have launched an investigation to try to find out how the men came by their injuries, which were not thought to be life-threatening.

A flat on the third storey of a building in Fowler Height Close was cordoned off by police. Three police cars were also positioned outside a property in Heys Close, just round the corner.

It is understood the air ambulance was sent out to take one of the patients to hospital.

Lorna Towers, 47, of Fowler Height Close said: “I was at work when it happened and I got a call off my son telling me that the police were in the street.

“I was completely shocked because this sort of thing just does not happen round here.

MORE TOP STORIES:

“I was really worried for my family’s safety and was concerned that the police cordoned off the house.

“I hope this sort of thing never happens again.”

Sharon Grant, 45, also of Fowler Height Close, added: “I was in a taxi coming back from town and I saw an ambulance and then a rapid response vehicle fly past the car.

“We turned into the road and there they were. I just could not believe it.

“It makes you really worried about what could happen next.”

Det Sgt Ian Procter, from Blackburn CID, said officers were working to try to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

He said: “At this stage, we are still getting all of the details together.

“It is really, really early days and we have had officers at the address doing inquiries. It is a really confusing tale.

“Two people have been injured in a fight and we are trying to get to the bottom of how they got their injuries. The injuries are not life-threatening, but we do not know the extent of them.”

Lorna has lived up there for 20 odd years, it's a very quiet little backwater compared with the rest of the estate

If the injuries were not life threatening why send an expensive air-ambulance? Did the incident really require 5 police cars on Heys Close and goodness knows how many on Fowler Height.
What a waste of money.

No doubt drug related, in my day men fought with fists not knives. The Police need to control the drug issue.

Sadly they don't but there was an unwritten rule, if you must fight make it clean. Punches only and if a man went down it was over. None of this kicking on the ground and stabbings.

Bring back national Service and come down hard on the drug runners
