REPORTERS Liam Thorp and Andrew Bardsley fulfilled a life-long dream as they stepped out onto the Old Trafford pitch for a charity tournament.
Liam, who reports for The Bolton News and Andrew of the Bury Times took part in the Christie’s Dream Team Cup, which saw six different teams facing off and hoping to raise money for the charity.
The Manchester United fans, who formed part of a Media United team which included staff from the BBC and the Manchester Evening News, were able to get changed in the famous Old Trafford dressing rooms before heading out onto the pitch.
After the competition, teams were invited to have dinner in the stadium’s Evolution Suite, where they enjoyed a talk from former United star Lee Sharpe.
The money raised on the day will benefit teenage and young cancer patients at The Christie and support the new Palatine Treatment Centre, which provides 31 state of the art clinical beds for haematology and transplant patients and teenage and young adult patients.
