A PRIVATE day nursery in Burnley has again been labelled as ‘good’ by education watchdog Ofsted.

Little People of Burnley, in Eldwick Street, was examined by inspector Joanne Parrington recently.

Her report said the quality of teaching is good, children were eager and motivated to learn, were very settled and content because of the caring and nurturing environment, and that and management was also good.

She said: “Safeguarding procedures are very strong. All staff have attended safeguarding training and have a good understanding of their responsibilities to keep children protected.

“Partnership with parents is effective. Parents are extremely positive about the care and education their children receive. As a result, children's needs are met.”

To improve to ‘outstanding’ at the next inspection, which will be in at least 2016, staff must have more opportunities to learn from each other and to further promote the importance of home learning through partnerships with parents.

The nursery employs 10 qualified staff and cares for 57 children.
