Neighbours wake man during fire at Nelson home

This Is Lancashire: Neighbours wake man during fire at Nelson home Neighbours wake man during fire at Nelson home

NEIGHBOURS woke a drunk Nelson man who turned his chip pan on and went to bed.

Residents in Sackville Street were woken by smoke alarms at around 3.15am today and were forced to wake the man up - because he slept through the noise.

Two fire engines from Nelson were called to the terraced street to put out the blaze, which damaged the man’s kitchen.

Crew manager Nigel Greenwood said: “Never cook whilst under the influence of alcohol. Either make sandwiches before you leave your home or get food from a takeaway.”

Crew manager Greenwood also reiterated the importance of having a working smoke alarm.

“A smoke alarm is the easiest way to alert you to the danger of fire, giving you and your family precious time to escape,” he added.

For a free Home Fire Safety Check, advice and smoke alarm test or replacement, visit www.lancsfirerescue.org.uk, call into your local fire station, or call 0800 1691125.

That's what it says, does it?

The drunk then got up, to complain about the noisy neighbours, I suppose?

I have lost count of the number of times I have read a similar story in the papers. Have some people lost their brains? Do they not watch tele or read papers and see the reports themselves?

Exactly - just like the banning of drugs has prevented any drug related incidents or deaths..

This is my house! It is a house share and I live upstairs!
I've been away this weekend looking after my mum's cat while she was on holiday! I go away for two days and this happens. Always knew he was irresponsible. Not what you want to see on the evening news.

No, but I dont have to be to know that even though drugs are illegal, they are still used. Or are you too simple to see my point?
